How to promote yourself the right way on Reddit.

Most people have heard of or used Reddit before, but most don’t realise its full potential.

It’s full of rabbit holes in every niche you can imagine from solo backpacking to car washing. The best part is, the community is super active and can be useful for finding information on niche topics. Even if you have nothing to sell, it’s worth being on there to help with any day-to-day problems you may have.

When done right, you can leverage the platform to gain serious traffic, new connections and validate ideas. Fast.

The problem.

Those who do understand the full potential often go about it the wrong way. Why? They go charging in shouting about their brand expecting people to buy. Regardless of the platform you’re on, that’s not how to sell.

The solution.

The key is to lead with value. This isn’t a hands-off approach to lead gen, it requires time and effort. My biggest piece of advice: start creating connections and offering free value.

If someone has an issue which your business can solve, don’t just plug your brand. Be genuine and offer free advice as you would to a friend. The conversation is far more likely to go somewhere that way. When the time is right, you can mention your site and that you can take the help further, but don’t be pushy.

It’s really that simple.

Leverage Nootropics for increased performance.

Avoid these nootropic mistakes.

Nootropics get a bad rap and for most on the market, rightly so. I’ve been trialling a new one recently called Qualia Mind. Its aim is to stimulate focus, memory and brain function.

I had a bumpy start to using it but I now love it for the creative days where I need to be locked in.

I’m also finding it a nice alternative to coffee.

They have two versions: a caffeine version and a caffeine-free version. I bought the caffeine version by mistake, then found out the hard way when I took them alongside my normal morning coffee, (wouldn’t recommend that)

The pros:

  • Does what it says on the tin

  • Fewer jitters or crashes than caffeine

  • Quickly puts you in the zone to do your best work

The cons:

  • Expensive

  • Big dosage (7 capsules)

  • Harsh on an empty stomach

The sweet spot I found is around 4 capsules taken with food. It gives me a nice edge without giving me stomach issues or wrecking my sleep that night.

Unrealistic expectations can keep you miserable

Re-frame expectations to increase your chance of success.

The law of attraction will tell you to expect the things you want, which in a way works. The problem is when you’re dead-set on an expectation happening and it doesn’t. Or it takes a little longer to manifest.

Why is this an issue? Because it sets the tone for either failing or succeeding.

For example, let’s say you’re trying to acquire your first freelance client within the next 30 days. It’s a great goal but framed that way, you’ll either hit it or miss it. If you miss it, it can be extremely demoralising and cause you to give up.

Instead, if you focus on increasing your chances of success, the process becomes much smoother. This way, you can still get the client within 30 days, but if it happens on day 31 that’s also okay. Even if you have to change course completely, you still learnt something.

This mindset really switches you to the process the first instead of being fixated on the goal. This really helped me on my own journey. I even apply it to my to-do list for the week. I can easily be unrealistic about what I can achieve in a week and feel deflated when it doesn’t happen. But by focusing on what I can control (my input) and doing everything to increase the likelihood of success, everything works better.
